Childrens Photography: My Favorite Brunch Buddy

“So, how’ve you been feeling?” Carrie asked as she tore open a couple packets of sugar and dumped them on the restaurant wood table in-front of her 19-month-old.  Braeden smiled and proceeded to delicately draw lines in the white crystals before licking his index finger.  “It’s a trick my mom taught me,” she explained.  Trick?  More like magic spell.  Braeden entertained himself this…

Baby Girl, You are 3 weeks!  Yippee!  Sarah came over with baby Cora yesterday and promised me that we are half-way to this baby thing being way easier.  Because, you know what, baby girl?  This is hard!  Like harder than finals week when I had my chemistry, calculus, and biology finals in the same day…

Portrait of an Artist’s Auntie

”Oh, there’s my best friend!” Kaylie pointed over the counter at Scoop to several self-portraits hanging on the wall drawn by young hands.  I scanned the first-grade faces in colored pencil and looked for Kay. “Where’s yours?” “I don’t know.  It’s not up there.”   Bummer, I thought, Kay’s wasn’t good enough to make the…

North Bend Airport: I Say Goodbye, You say Hello

Travel: Bandon, Oregon “Midnight?  You said we’d get home at 10:30.” “I must have looked at our departure time instead and mistaken it for our arrival time.” Whine, whine, whine.  That pretty sums up my response.  You know you are not concealing your feeling well when your 14-year-old nephew tells our 5-year-old niece to give…

I Heart Faces: Especially My Little Riley

All us girls were outside on the back patio trying to take photos of Jazzy, my in-law’s 5th “child” with four legs.  Well, almost all of us. “What are you doing without me?” Riley ran through the house to join us and immediately inquired as to what we were doing.  Because, whatever it was, she…

Julie - this is a beautiful shot. I had a little guy that did not want his picture taken, so I said give me your silliest face…..now give me your best smile. And luckily it worked. :0)

Aimee - Thanks! I think the problem is that she LOVES to get her photo taken – lol. She’s just gotten to the stage where she likes to check out her hair, clothes, etc because she has a particular look in mind. She was Very Attached to her hood that day ;) I’ll try your advice next time!
