Baby Avery Shower: Details, Details

Meet my sister, Amanda. Besides being better in math and dancing, she also got the art gene in the family.  I know, I make it sound like there was just one gene up for grabs and she lucked out.  But, in all honesty, it kind of feels like that’s just the way it happened.  I…

Felz - So lovely! If I ever have a baby shower can you please loan me your clever sister? Love the name too by the way. Great choice you guys

Aex - The sweet little Hawaiian grandma who made the bracelet assured me ku’uipo means sweetheart. They wouldn’t lie at those pre-luau arts and crafts shows just to make a sale now would they? Now, if I can only find the card for the lady who makes the authentically pink Hawaiian grass skirts for baby girls; super adorable and I’m convinced Avery needs one. Amanda out did herself for your shower. You two are very lucky to be sisties. And Baby Avery is even luckier to have you two for a mom and auntie! Love you both and Baby Avery too!

Dianne - Oh Aimee it was a wonderful shower and so good to see all you after so many years. The entire shower exuded lots of love. By the way the cookie was delicious. I ate the whole carriage on the way home.

Aimee - Thank you so much for coming! The soccer net, ball and shorts were a BIG HIT! We loved it!

November 22, 2011

Aimee - She’s really good with babies, too! Yeah, we gave up on the French name. Next time ;)

Aex - BTW, the baby’s name is totally wonderful, not that Grandma Alex is biased in any way… ;)

Diaper Bag Dilemmas and Deals

Like I wrote yesterday, diaper bags are akin to bridesmaid dresses: You can go for one that won’t break the bank.  It may be cute and look great in photos; however, it will not be a dress you’d love to wear again.  Or, you can go for broke.  You’ll feel more elegant and actually get…

Claire - Petunia Pickle Bottoms are my favorite diaper bags. And I own more of them than I would like to admit… I think Paul has just accepted it as one of those things that he will never understand but will just have to live with!

September 14, 2011

danielle - you should check out MZ wallace. I like those the best.

September 14, 2011

Aimee - Wow, those are gorgeous!

September 14, 2011

Aimee - There are plenty of things I don’t understand about Paul, so I think you’re just evening it out ;) (He needs to use smaller words for one! haha!)

Hilary Miniad - Aimee,

The Coach bag could also be used as a purse! How genius! A diaper bag that is also a purse! Nobody will be able to tell the difference! Just buy a matching coach wallet and your set! One diaper bag and one nice purse! Can’t tell you how many times I forgot my diaper bag at home but never forgot my purse!! Love the Coach bag!!

Love, Hil

Cari - I always wanted one of these…but a bit out of my price range.

My vote? Go for the most practical. :o) When you just HAVE to have that Starbucks and there is no drive through for miles and no Seth available for delivery service you’ll want something you can fling over your shoulder (and have it stay put) while you tote baby over one hip. Leave diaper bag in car you might say? What if the line is a few people longer than planned and baby starts fussing (not that your princess would do that to you pre-coffee…but ya know) reach into that securely attached diaper bag and whip out…toy, binkie, cheerio. Wew! Quiet for a minute. Then you hear the sound you are all too familiar with, yikes!…reach into that bag and pull out a burp cloth just in time to catch Baby’s spit up before it hits the floor. Saved again. Remember baby is on hip in one arm. You are fumbling to pay for that much much needed coffee with the other. :o) Can that really happen in a 5 minute time span? Yes Ma’am it can! Mommyhood is the best thing ever! And I love reading your blog. So I can’t wait for all the baby ones to come! :o)

September 14, 2011

Aimee - Oh those are cute, Cari! So wait, the baby spits up BEFORE my morning coffee? No one told me this would happen! What! ;) Also, I think women need a third arm for the first year of babyhood!

Alex - All this angst over a diaper bag. What will you do when you have to break down and get that uber practical mommymobile . . . the dreaded minivan! Yikes!

September 15, 2011

Aimee - Never! Lippert says she loves her minivan. I can see why, but I wont’ give in yet!

Style: Baby Diaper and Wipes Holder

This was my very first mommy gift!  My sweet friend, Jen, had noticed some Michael Miller samples I had ordered and picked this lovely little baby diaper and wipes holder for me from Seaside Papery on Coronado Island.  This may have just started a new fetish for baby-stuff holder that ‘s right up there with my…

Alex - You have GOT to love anything with giraffes, polka dots and a touch of bling. The. End.

Style: Minted.com

I’ve been invited to 8 weddings, all within a 2.5 month period this summer.  For girls, that usually means a shower and bachelorette party.  What I didn’t realize is that it also meant lots of real mail! I actually know the time the mailman arrives now.  I quickly skim through all the coupon magazines I’ll…

Claire Verti’s Baby Shower

When Claire told me she was pregnant, I immediately offered to throw her baby shower.  I’ve known her since we were in high school, she was my super senior year roommate at college, and she had been waiting for this baby for SIX years.  I mean, if anything is cause for a celebration, it is…

Claire Verti - You guys did such a great job! I think you should consider a career in party planning. Can’t wait to see who is right about the sex of this baby! Boy? or Girl?
