Pinterest: Inspiration for Baby Babe’s Nursery

I received an email last night from the owner of one of my favorite Etsy stores asking me where her things had been “pinned” and what was up with all this pinning. Now, I may have had to google Bethenny Frankel to get in on a joke with a friend, I have no idea what happened…

Alex - Gray?!? What happened to Pepto-Bismol Pink?!! Now that’s a wall color! ;-) The closet looks like how we did yours when you were little. Exxx-cept you wanted all the shelves painted yellow, you know, for contrast. Pink and yellow room. Very.

Aimee - I’m really into colors and themes ;)

Solidarity Lacking

When I found out I was pregnant, I asked Seth if he would give up one of the following for the 9 months I was, you know, creating life (drama, much?): Beer Wine Hard Alcohol Caffeinated Coffee I don’t mean to get all Richard Rorty on ya’ll, but this American Pragmatist had a few things…

Alex - I gave up call things “caffeine” when I was pregnant with you. Although not a coffee lover at the time, chocolate was a HUGE sacrifice. How’s that for solidarity?

September 19, 2011

Aimee - I know, I know. But I gave up WORK when I got pregnant, so all my relaxed hormones are going to result in an empathetic and kind baby – totally scientifically proven. Beat that. (Wait, did I just call myself un-empathetic??)

September 19, 2011

gillian - While I was pregnant Jason saw my role as built in designated driver. How about that for solidarity? ;-) Boys, boys, boys.

September 20, 2011

Alex - That was “all” not “call” ~ Auto-Correct or me? I’m beginning to wonder. You’re not empathetic?! Wha. . …??!!

September 21, 2011

Aimee - I remember him telling Seth about that! Only thing is that last call came pretty early in the evening for Seth ;)

Body Beautiful: Tell Your Friends They are Beautiful

I sat in the back of a gathering hall at PLNU listening to my friend Allie share a small part of her testimony.  In a calm voice she looked into the faces of a room filled with coeds and told them about her struggles with body image issues, low-self-esteem, and depression during her teens and…

Books, Memories, and the BMOC

When we moved into our new place together, Seth’s and my biggest debate was about his books.  He had inherited Mamu’s (a.k.a. grandma’s) personal collection.  Since she was a heavy smoker, they are covered in thick cigarette soot.  Seth prizes each one.  He also added substantially to this collection during college and law school.  Those…

Kara @ The Chuppies - Seth and books…I have to say that I can relate.
You’ll have to talk with Jason sometime (poor guy).
Love the yearbook photo.
Wish so much that you guys were close :(

Aimee - I think you were an English major, right? So was I! But I still gave a lot of my books away. It’s the moving! I haven’t lived somewhere for longer than 3 years! Hopefully, we’ll see you after the baby arrives. I’m sure we’ll be going to OR next summer. Seth wants to drive from SD to OR so that we can take Patch. I told him he’s crazy! But, we’ll get there – by plane, if I have my way.

Alex - Heeyyy! There’s nothing wrong with reading the encyclopedia, there’s lots of useful and interesting info to be found. Ditto for dictionaries.

BMOC? That’s awesome! Too bad you and Seth didn’t know each other in high school, you could compare all your dazzling medals. ;-)

Btw, I have already started a book collection for Baby-Babe. I’m thinking her nursery needs a bookcase. And maybe an encyclopedia. . .

September 15, 2011

Aimee - Ha! When he was a senior in HS, I was in elementary school! I started a book collection for my A-girl, too. Give me a little credit – I was a Lit major in college, in two languages no less. Oh, which reminds me, tell Grandpa Gusti so start getting used to the idea of speaking de Spanish to the baby!

September 15, 2011

Rebekah - I read a book about tort law once but it was by John Grisham so I’m guessing that doesn’t count!

September 16, 2011

Alex - Rebekah – it counts. I’m sure Grisham is required lawmschool reading. ;-)

September 16, 2011

Alex - That’s law school. Thanks Auto-Correct for helping me out. ;P

Solidarity Lacking - Pregnancy and Marriage | Aimee Desiree Press - ADP - [...] half-expected Seth to say yes.  I mean, look at that face.  So kind.  So sweet.  It’s what a BMOC would do, surely.  Yet, in this case, it seems that cruelty is in the eye of the beholder. [...]

Diaper Bag Dilemmas and Deals

Like I wrote yesterday, diaper bags are akin to bridesmaid dresses: You can go for one that won’t break the bank.  It may be cute and look great in photos; however, it will not be a dress you’d love to wear again.  Or, you can go for broke.  You’ll feel more elegant and actually get…

Claire - Petunia Pickle Bottoms are my favorite diaper bags. And I own more of them than I would like to admit… I think Paul has just accepted it as one of those things that he will never understand but will just have to live with!

September 14, 2011

danielle - you should check out MZ wallace. I like those the best.

September 14, 2011

Aimee - Wow, those are gorgeous!

September 14, 2011

Aimee - There are plenty of things I don’t understand about Paul, so I think you’re just evening it out ;) (He needs to use smaller words for one! haha!)

September 14, 2011

Hilary Miniad - Aimee,

The Coach bag could also be used as a purse! How genius! A diaper bag that is also a purse! Nobody will be able to tell the difference! Just buy a matching coach wallet and your set! One diaper bag and one nice purse! Can’t tell you how many times I forgot my diaper bag at home but never forgot my purse!! Love the Coach bag!!

Love, Hil

Cari - I always wanted one of these…but a bit out of my price range.

My vote? Go for the most practical. :o) When you just HAVE to have that Starbucks and there is no drive through for miles and no Seth available for delivery service you’ll want something you can fling over your shoulder (and have it stay put) while you tote baby over one hip. Leave diaper bag in car you might say? What if the line is a few people longer than planned and baby starts fussing (not that your princess would do that to you pre-coffee…but ya know) reach into that securely attached diaper bag and whip out…toy, binkie, cheerio. Wew! Quiet for a minute. Then you hear the sound you are all too familiar with, yikes!…reach into that bag and pull out a burp cloth just in time to catch Baby’s spit up before it hits the floor. Saved again. Remember baby is on hip in one arm. You are fumbling to pay for that much much needed coffee with the other. :o) Can that really happen in a 5 minute time span? Yes Ma’am it can! Mommyhood is the best thing ever! And I love reading your blog. So I can’t wait for all the baby ones to come! :o)

September 14, 2011

Aimee - Oh those are cute, Cari! So wait, the baby spits up BEFORE my morning coffee? No one told me this would happen! What! ;) Also, I think women need a third arm for the first year of babyhood!

September 15, 2011

Alex - All this angst over a diaper bag. What will you do when you have to break down and get that uber practical mommymobile . . . the dreaded minivan! Yikes!

September 15, 2011

Aimee - Never! Lippert says she loves her minivan. I can see why, but I wont’ give in yet!
