Family Photography: Christmas Photos with Sarah, Jason and Realyn…oh, and Hefner!

The first time I met Sarah she had spent all day helping her boyfriend’s sister, Larisa, paint her new dance studio, Tap Fever.  Actually, it was the last of several days of all-out hard work.  What struck me about Sarah was that she was smiling and laughing as if she had spent the day having fun at the beach.  She was obviously one of those “glass half-full” kind of girls with a genuine giving nature.  I liked her instantly and told Larisa her brother would be crahayzy if he let that pretty girl go.  Larisa agreed.  She assured me that her brother, Jason, was a planner and was lining up his career before he proposed.

Fast forward two years.  The career is set and Jason and Sarah are engaged!  They are also the proud parents of 4-month-old, Realyn.  Hey, sometimes the best things in life are a surprise!  I’m not sure who dotes on this baby girl most: mommy, daddy or Auntie Larisa!  What I do know is Hefner, their loyal canine, is getting the short end of this “baby on-board” stick.  I bet he’d be happy if you just threw a real stick so he could fetch it!   I’m pretty sure he tried to warn Patchy:  ”You don’t know what’s coming, guy!  Get all your pets and beach runs in now!”

Sarah and Jason were kind enough to spend a few hours with me yesterday so I could take some family photos with Realyn….aaaaand Hef!  Here are my favorites:

I’ve always wanted to take photographs on these Spanish style steps.  Doesn’t this family look dashing?

 

If you are the friend who gave Sarah that lovely heart bracelet, please note that she made sure it would be included in the family photo.  No, really, the first thing she did was swap it to her right wrist so that it would show in the photograph :)

 

 

Hefner is the most well-behaved dog I’ve ever seen on a photo shoot.  Okay, including our own family photos and one other photo shoot I did with a dog, he’s been the best.  I think the guy has just accepted the fact that he’s the lowest member of the pack – literally.

 

I’d love to take credit for Realyn’s smile, but it’s really her momma who got her to laugh.

Need I even explain why I clapped my hands with joy when Sarah pulled these patent leather shoes out for Realyn to wear?  And, guess what?  She said she has a second pair for Baby Avery.  Yeah!

 

 

Fine, the light is harsh.  I  know.  BUT, once I get Adobe Lightroom at Christmas (Seth, you better be reading this!), I’m going to do a bit of magic and it’s gonna be the best artsy photo ever.  Until I really learn how to use light.  Then I’ll take more of Sarah and Realyn because this kid is only gonna get cuter :)

 

I had to end with a portrait of Hefner.  After all, he was Sarah and Jason’s first baby!  Plus, this guy totally won me over.  Hef was such a sweetheart and we both know those three would be lost without you!
