37 Weeks: Everybody Loves Kung Fu Fighting

Dear Baby Avery, We’ve made it to 37 weeks, which means you are full-term!  I remember wondering if that was you I felt fluttering inside me and texting Grandpa MD.  Now, there is no question:  You are full of punches and kicks!  It’s like you are a little kung fu fighter.  I’m not sure which […]

An Inconvenient Truth about Second Families

“Have you heard from mom this week?” I had just plopped the last of the Trader Joe’s paper bags on the kitchen table.  My sister, Amanda, had already started washing the vegetables for dinner and looked over her shoulder at me. “Nope.  Face it, Aimee, they have a new family now.” We had both left […]

Amanda - I’m pretty sure Beau loves me best ;)

December 20, 2011

Alex - You forgot to mention that Beau and CoCo are also growing up in a nicer neighborhood and house than you girls. Hey, what can I say? Your dad and I could have waited until we were older and more established to have kids, but then you and Amanda wouldn’t be you and Amanda, and, then there couldn’t be an Avery on the way, and, there would be no Seth and Patchy in our lives. How sad would all that be? So you girls just had to come along on the ride that we were on and being Med School Brats comes with extra perks later in life that aren’t so bad, right? And don’t worry, I’m actually trying to sort out the poodle care so that I don’t have to bring them down with me. This may be where Grandma Jackie and her new boarding, errr, home become a big asset. Especially since she and CoCo have formed a very special bond. I think Beau and CoCo will get to go to doggie “daycare” with their new conquest while I go down to enjoy my “First” Family and my beautiful new granddaughter. Everything always works out well in the end. :D

December 20, 2011

Aimee - Well, we always lived in pretty nice places. You were the mom who picked out our home based on the academics of the school district. Besides OH, I liked where we lived…even if we didn’t have fancy gates protecting us from the outside world ;)

It figures that Coco would suck up to grandma! Please remind her that I’m the First Grandbaby and that she could only come in second to me with Grandma J! Thanks!!

Aimee - Hahahaha! Dare you to tell dad! And I think Seth is pretty convinced Coco loves him best.

Generally Accepted Female Accounting Practices

I was so proud of all the beautiful clothes I had bought on sale.  “Wait until I show you!” I bragged to Seth.  Then he laughed and told me that I had employed GAFAP – Generally Accepted Female Accounting Practices.  First, I would like to point out that, the more you spend on sale items […]

Alex - I’m sure Avery will be totally appreciative of your dedication to the GAFAP and will adopt the practice herself. Seth can join Grandpa Gusti for a steak and a nice wine as the GAMCM (Generally Accepted Male Coping Mechanism) for the GAFAP.
